I bought a cannon ae-1(what is the difference between a ae-1 and a ae-1 program?) that came with a 50 mm lens. Then I bought a 200 mm zoom lens from another person(both ebay) that was supposed to be for this camera. The 50 measures approx 1.75 where it connects to the body and the 200 is just over 1.5. Is there any kind of adapter ring I can purchase to make the zoom work on this camera? Thank you for any and all help.

Maybe. Lenses typically are measured in mm, and hopefully, comewhere on your lenses there is a number like 57 or something like that. On my 70-210 zoom lens it's marked on the end of the lens, on the rim around the glass. If your 50 mm is that much bigger than your 200, you might have a problem; maybe it just won't work with it, I don't know. You need to have the correct type of mount, and a Canon mount on a lens is different than, for example, a Nikon mount. If your 50 mm lens actually works on the camera, in order for the 200 to fit, it will have to have a Canon mount and be the correct size.
