Deer Traps Found At Ft. Chaffee AR

    The Associated Press

Police say hunters found two cocked bows set by an alleged poacher as booby traps for deer at popular hunting land at Fort Chaffee.

Fort Chaffee Police Chief Michael Hardy says officers, alerted by the hunters, tripped the trap wires attached to the bows. One was a crossbow and the other was a longbow.

Hardy says he and officers with the Game and Fish Commission then set up surveillance to await the poacher.

Hardy said that a man came to check the traps on Saturday and he was cited for a variety of poaching-related offenses.

Hardy says he believes the traps were for deer and not intended to hurt people.

Hardy withheld the man's name, citing a continuing criminal investigation. He said the man had a permit to hunt at Fort Chaffee but that criminal charges would be filed.

    What this guy thinking?

Im glad they called him a poacher instead of labeling him a hunter.
