Yesterday I took my 1999 Jeep Cherokee out for some fun in the mud, I couldn't resist those huge puddles up behind my house. after about an hour of sloppin around, I changed from puddle jumpin' to some hill climbing. Got about half way up a muddy hill that was about 30 ft. high and I started to slide back down. Being me, I decided that I was going to try it again, I made up on the second attempt. Problem was I still needed to come back down. On my way back down the jeep started to slide, I did my best to keep from getting side ways and I was fairly successful. Unfortunately for me there was a rock the size of an ATV at the bottom which sucked me in like a magnet. To make a long story short I no longer have a functioning drivers side door, my front right fender looks like its been peeled back with a can opener and my hood has seen better days. After 15 minutes of bending metal I was able to hobble the Jeep home. Looks like I'll be paying the $500 deductable this time.

If you guys have any stories to share out there, I'd love to hear them. Misery loves company.

afew months ago my brother and i had the jeeps out on the power line......... then it got too bad so we decided to come off the powerlines and drive out onto the shore of the lake that was right there, but the only way out was to drive into a little brook and out onto the shore, cause of the trees all around the lake.... well my brother droped his front end in and got stuck before the back wheels could get in, so i winched him out and he said he'll go with a bit more speed...... didn't make it any farther than the last time, so i winched it out again, so i decided since i have the winch i would go in first and winch myself out to the shore and winch him through...... well i droped into it and started winching, i got about half way out and the zuki sunk over the tires and the winch stalled...... so i hooked up a pull block, it didn't move more than 1" and stalled again....... o crap...... so after about a few hours of trying different thing, we decided to get in the other jeep, and drive around the long way and come into the lake and try and pull from the front, we got that thing stuck on our way back, took about an hour with the little stock jack...... got around to the front, still couldn't get mine out..... so we decided to go get help, went to my cousin's house who has a chev with 38" swampers, and his truck is "out of order" if ya know what i mean, but some of the guys at his pklace came out and they got stuck, called anouther truck to pull them out, and i'm still stuck.....by this time its about 10 pm. and pitch dark and very cold and i'm up to my waist in water, soken wet, so i called home on someones cell and said i'll be home shortly that i'm leaving it here, the next day we came out with the high lifts, planks, chain falls, ropes, chains, ect.... and we finally got it free........ theres some pics here for anyone interested........

I pulled one of those in January. Went to my land up by the Missourri river and wanted to check on a tripod blind on the backside of the property and drove up over the ridge. Now i pride myself on my Tacomas ability to travel just about anywhere on the planet. But.........there is always a but.......the ground was froze, little bit of snow, and very steep.........not a good combo. Half way up my tires broke loose and all four wheels were spinning and i was gaining speed BACKWARDS!!! Thankfully i caught a nice deep rut before i smacked some trees. But the rut caused my left side to come off the ground and gave me a pretty good scare. I packed enough dirt in the bead of my right side tires to cause them to start deflating. Closest ive ever come to rolling a truck.

don't go with the trux-us swamper....... i heard from alot of guys that there not worth the money, the swamper SSR's are a better choice....... both on and off-road......or go with a bogger.... j/k

Really? Thanks for the info. SSRs are way too expensive of tire. Guess maybe ill go back to the good ol BFG ATs. They went up in price as well this year. Boggers??? are you nuts. I wouldnt put those things on a tractor!!!!!!

the swamper TSL's are pretty good, but like all swampers, they need to be siped......most tire shop will do that for about 10$ per tire......
and for the boggers, there my dream tire........... but i do like 100% off-road now, and will be about 75% off road once i get it on the road
sorry to take over the post there greg....

At least you guys are smarter than me lol. I like to take my 1974 chevy longbed 2wd out to Carrizo Plains with my six year old son & bury it down to the axles all the way around in alkalie covered mud ( the mud that dries like concrete ) lol. We where stuck in that sticky crap for 2 1/2 hours about 3/8 mile from the main rd & 20 feet from a decent dirt rd. I tried digging it out & putting firewood under the rear tires just got the tires smoking. Ended up getting pulled out by an old jeep scrambler that heard the three rifle shots from the 300 H&H I had in the truck with me. Needless to say my son won't let me go off good dirt roads anymore lol

Just the usual scrapes, dents, holes, and gouges from truck-eating trees and boulders. Have receiver hitches fore and aft with portable Warn winch. Also carry hi-lift jack and comealong. Once, I couldn't make it up a hill no matter what I did. Rear wouldn't stop sliding, so I leaned the truck against a tree so she wouldn't tip over and went back down nose first. Body damage isn't anything when one's brother practically keeps a body shop in the garage.

I was taking part in the MDA Poker Run out at Stoddard Wells OHV area driving my Baja Bug. The course crossed a graded powerline road and there were berms from grading of the road. There was dust from the car in front of me and I didn't see the berms. I hit them at about 35-40mph. I think I cleared both berms and when I landed the rear end bounced pretty hard. Next thing I remember was looking DOWN at the ground through my front windshield. Luckily I didn't go over. I almost spoiled my shorts that day
