    Thumbs up

    I currently use the Mapsource CDs and am not impressed with the terrain detail (For backpacking).

    Anyone know of software, that when downloaded to the GPS, provides the same level terrain detail as a 7.5 minute map? (Or am I dreaming here?)

    Thanks a bunch,

    Eric

    As far as I know only Garmin mapsource maps can be loaded into a Garmin GPSr.
    I have Mapsource topo maps in my Garmin Vista but download tracklogs and waypoints on my pc into N.G. TOPO! which has 7.5 maps. Then if I want to print out maps etc... Its quite detailed.
    Good Luck,
    John

    Pietromarc,

    No, the detail on the Mapsource CDs is "ok," if you don't go too far from your vehicle. The only reason I don't like the Mapsource CDs is I would like the detail to be the same as a 7.5 minute map. I hunt in the San Pedro Wilderness Area of the Rockies and I need serious detail, not 1/100,000 detail level. The level of detail the Mapsource CDs provide is the same as a BLM map.

    Hope this helps,

    Eric

    Pietromarc,

    It has been a while but I bought them on Ebay. I haven't checked lately, but there used to be auctions for them all the time.

    I got them for around $75.

    <just returned from Ebay>

    Here is a search link:

    Thank you, but I am following in the foot steps of the OTHER members who powered this site when I stumbled in a while back.

    Hey, anything to help, and if you need anything else, give a yell!
