I'll be working in Calabasas for awhile(6 months) and was wondering if there is anywhere to cast a fly? I know that the lower part of Malibu creek is closed because of steelhead but is there anywhere else?
Don't know of any trout fishing in the mountains there. There is surf fishing along PCH and up towards ventura. You will be closer the to streams in the fraizer park area and the streams above ventura in the los padres forest. These areas have some nice streams. The usual hour drive like all streams in the LA area. The santa monica mountains are dry with few fishable creeks other than malibu creek. And that is closed of course for steelhead.
There's Piru Creek near Pyramid lake.
