Hey guys

I am looking for a hunters saftey course for my Nephew that turns 12 at the end of the month. He lives in the Antioch area of California. Thought I would try to sign him up as a birthday present as he shows a big interest in guns and hunting and want to get him started on the right foot with some gun safety and hunter edicate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hey Ridge Runner,

Antioch is kinda "out there", but click here for a list of classes and locations in the Bay Area. Martinez and Concord are relatively close.

    Good luck to your nephew!

I would like to give you a personal recommendation. I know a hunting instructor in Livermore, named Buck Buchanan. I believe he does the class at Livermore Rod and Gun Club. Their training is spread over a couple of days and they tend to serve lunch one of the days that usually includes game. From what I have seen of him he is a good instructor. If you are interested send me a message and I will send you his phone number. I don't want to put the number directly on the board.

I would recommend Chris Jenneihan, she's on the list that speck gave you. I think if you go to walmart in antioch or pittsburg you can get the info there as well. I took both of my boys to them and they are great, it's a two day class with donuts in the morning and lunch in the afternoon. They were both on the Olympic shooting team a few years ago. They run it out of the Brentwood gun club off of Balfour rd. Give them a call, you will like them.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. 2 years ago was my oldest son, this year was my youngest son and next year will be one of my twin daughters, my other daughter has no interest in hunting. Boy, license's, 2 deer tags each, pig tags and maybe some bear tags that's going to be some $$$$$$. Oh well, it's worth it.

    Hey Mel,

If they're into it, go ahead and get them into those lifetime licenses. It's a heck of a deal for a kid and an even better deal for a parent.

You know, I didn't even think about the lifetime license. that would be a heck of a deal, I'll look into it.
