    Default D7 Kaiser Wilderness Closure

Was checking up on the Aspen fire and found this on the Incident report...

"The closure of Stump Springs road remains in effect. The Sierra National Forest has issued a Forest Closure Order for the Kaiser Wilderness."

Hopefully, this will not remain in effect through the season. I don't hunt the Kaiser Wilderness, just thought it might interest some who do.
"Democracy ends when the government takes from those willing to work and gives to those who aren't"
    Thomas Jefferson.

“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” John Adams 1826

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
    Benjamin Franklin

The fire has been kept out of the Kaiser Wilderness so far, it is to the west down along the San Joaquin River below Stump Springs Rd. What I am concerned with is campground and road closures in the areas near this fire. Beasore is closed past Clover Meadow and it could extend to Mono Hot Springs before it's stopped.

The Aspen Fire was discovered on Monday, July 22 burning on the Sierra National Forest- High Sierra Ranger District. The lightning caused fire began burning below Stump Springs Road north of Aspen Springs.
Sierra National Forest's initial suppression efforts, crews were able to keep the fire from burning into the Kaiser Wilderness. Firefighter and public safety will remain the highest priority.

The incident management team Is demobing tomorrow and will hand it over to the Sierra national forest. The report puts it at 85% contained .... Which means it a done deal. Mop up and rehab from here. Roads may not be open by archery but should be by rifle.

Nope. You can see on that map that it has burnt up to Horsethief lakes and Pryor lake which are both in the wilderness. They are letting it burn up into the granite to burn itself out as it's such difficult terrain. Looks like they pulled the maps of the active fire edge, but it was along the south/south east.

Yep. All trail heads and trails in the kaiser are closed. Saw six doe and 2 legal bucks. Not with in arrow range though, hopefully their still around by rifle opener.
