    Default CA semi-auto rifle ban-SB374

This is a biggie. The bill would classify any centerfire or rimfire, semi-auto rifle with a detachable magazine as an assualt weapon, requiring registration, fingerprinting and a $19 DROS fee.http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...arch_keywords=

If Boxer and Feinstein pass enough laws, we can all be criminals.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000. The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

This one is pure CA supermajority. This is even stricter than Feinsteins' proposed federal assualt weapon ban. If you own ANY semi-auto rifle with a detachable mag, it's an assualt weapon.

I hope we can get this one to the supreme court (its already as good as passed). Banning an entire class of firearm hasn't gone over well with the supremes before. Problem is all the bs we will have to put up with in the meantime...
This is public land, we're not hunting we're hiking with guns.

I bet all the gang bangers will be first in line to register their firearms ......... I mean second in line , right behind the lawmakers !

Damn it this state is killing me and I have zero option other than to gut it out. I do have some storage spaces out of state so I wont have to register anything I suppose.

This is getting out of hand.

If a debate based on facts were to occur, the anti 2A crowd would be done. Nationwide fully publicized. I can dream.
It would be a great a thing and educate the public.

I was reading the bill and the "re-defintions". If its Semi-auto centerfire rifle greater than 30 inches, would it fall out of the assault weapon profile? see below. I did'nt want to add the rest of the definitions, "hurts" my eyes...

    30515.

    (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:
(1)A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

(A)A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.

    (B)A thumbhole stock.

    (C)A folding or telescoping stock.

(D)A grenade launcher or flare launcher.

    (E)A flash suppressor.

    (F)A forward pistol grip.

(2)A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

    (1) A semiautomatic, rimfire or centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept 10 rounds or fewer.
    (3)

    (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

No, longer than 30 inches with a detachable magazine would still be illegal. Your Mini-14 or Ruger 10/22 would stil be an "assualt weapon".

This BS is insane. Really? They are going to define my little Ruger 10/22 as an assault rifle? At what point will these ridiculous legislation changes redefine us from law abiding citizens to criminals.
