I did some scouting up there and did not see a single buck. Only saw a doe or two.

I won't be there for the archery opener but I will be there to build a new blind the weekend of the 24th, 25th and 26th and then back again for the rifle opener. Good luck dude!

Last weekend of rifle, my boy and I will be camping "near" Meadow Lake. Still have a very difficult time handing over $25 for a campsite. Usually camp fairly close to the lake.

    Ok,
Opening day I took off on the trail well it was still dark out. I had hunted until about 10am and not seen a thing, I was pretty bummed about it. Hit the road on my way back to the car. I am pretty sure I saw someone drive by with a Flat bed truck followed by a green ford suv. Maybe one of you guys? Boom! walking down the road I saw a doe and a fawn just getting up to feed. No shot. Went back to the cabin and took a nice nap after eating breakfast.

Woke up and took a little 9 mile drive to a nice back honey valley that I know of and got out... Ten minutes into hiking I see 2 does and one buck from 200 yards away. Start my stalk onto the feeding deer working my way behind trees and up a creek bed. I close into about 50 yards I think and range check. 45 yards up hill was going to be a rough shot. The buck was looking at me as I pulled my bow string back and let the arrow fly.......... ping ting tang as the buck jumped up in the air as I half suspect he was going to. The arrow bounced off the rocks behind the deer so I went to find my arrow and maybe get another shot. I run up hill to where I missed with another arrow knocked looking for the buck and trying to find my arrow at the same time.... Searching the ground I see huge sprays of blood every 5 feet. After tracking the blood for 100 yards I found the buck laying down dead. Success! I was excited to get my first bow buck!

    Heyoooo!!!

Ok I am in cell service for a second.
    Opening day 5x4 down
Sunday- missed a wiiiidddeee 4x4 and I missed a huge 3x3 with two forkies.
Sunday night-bear hits buck hanging in camp.
Monday- does lots of them. One spike.
Monday night- bear mayhem in camp. Deer head goes missing.
Tuesday- dog finds head and left over hind quarter bone (trail cam pics up soon)
Wed - out on a hunt and my buddy arrives around 3. Still on the hunt by five so he leaves to go take a stand by a spring. 630 he is back with a forkie.
Wed night- no more bear and we all sleep well for a night.

Side notes. Sunday morning we found a gut shot deer 3x2 rancid unclaimed. Sad face.
Also I know of a 3x3 took and some forks not by my camp.

I'll have pictures when I am out of the woods
