Russian Shturmovik Il-2 takes flight in USA for 1st time
Steve Hinton flew the Flying Heritage Collection's Shturmovik Il-2 for the first time yesterday. It's the first time a Shturmovik has been flown, ever, in the US. Counter clockwise rotation on the engine for this great warbird. Russia's Flying Tank. Is that an Allison engine?

Great old war bird. They were hard to shoot down but the greatest ace of WWII Eric Hartman could shot them down if he could get below them and shot the oil cooler. Stalin said they were has essential has fire and water. Has you know other air forces had there own aircraft to kill tanks but they were not purpose built for that task.
