Default New W.U. member looking for Wilderness Unlimited hunt buddy

My family are the newest members of Wilderness Unlimited. As of right now, the ol' lady(my hunting buddy) works during the week and I currently have some time on the week days.

Are there any other members here who could use a hunting buddy mid-week for archery pigs or deer? I would strongly prefer a fellow archer, but anyone who could introduce me to the properties and show me the ropes would be much appreciated.

I am in Orange County and looking to hunt the properties SOUTH of San Benito couny (i.e. Kern, Fresno, Santa Barbara, etc.)

    Thanks guys!

I am not sure I can help ya thre since I hunt the properties mostly to the north, however I would talk to the WU staff, they are pretty helpfull when it comes to recomending ranches, I would recomend the ranches down south like Twin Peaks, or Benz. Also I have met some members that I have good hunting relationships with just by going to a ranch alone and meeting the other hunters in camp. If you ever venture up North Feel free to shoot me a PM and I can help you out.

You guys have any thoughts on Mariner? Heading there this week for pig, trying to get out of these storms for the next few days being that we took the time to come up north to hunt for a week. We went up to Hill the last few days and got dumped on by this rain so needless to say that put a little bit of a damper on things there.

I'd stay away from Mariner for pigs but it is also Turkey season there so you will have plenty to keep you entertained. There are a few pigs around but it is a place that they pass thru from time to time. Lots of Turkeys.

what else do you recommend for pig? looking through the ranches its looking like most of them were FSSM, kinda pointless to go there for a day especially not knowing the ranches up this way. looking more like dropping back down by home and going to benz or cummings again.

I thought Twin Peaks and Los Gatos were open right now. Also Orchard should be open, but I would suggest tackling Orchard with a rifle unless you want a real challenge and only about a 2 hour window of opportunity. Hill Ranch will be real good as well as Mosby. If you are interested in a Turkey/Pig combo I would look into Rancho Chimales.

Thanks for the info. Hill was a bust, rained so damn hard up there we had a hard time. Hunted mariner for turkey in between the rain and busted there as well. the weather played havoc on the entire week.
