    Default Slingbows anyone?

Anybody ever used/seen these? They look to be a viable option and are far more lightweight/compact than any bow. I ordered a Marksman 3060 slingshot and a 40 pound powerband with nocking loop. Should be here by friday. I also set up a mounting bracket for the reel seat already and I have a Zebco 888 and seat. Just need to get some fastflight line. The AMS stuff is too thick for the spinner. And I need to come up with a good arrow rest. Can't wait to finish it up and try it out. My left arm is tired of carrying my heavy XI Impulse all day, lol.

on my last camping trip i found a childs target arrow while shooting my marksmen sling shot. we started shooting it a round and i was very suprized at the accuracy. we were hiting a milk jug at 10 yards with enough force to full penarate both sids of the jug. so i see them working great for bow fishing with a few mods. good luck. please post a pic when finished so we se how u did it. :)

I build one after seeing a video on youtube. The guy from dual survival was demonstrating how it worked. Pretty cool, fun to play with around camp.

Didn't come out too bad. Shoots pretty fast too. I'm sure it'll stick a fish nicely.

Thanks. It takes a bit to get the hang of aiming it, but it has potential. As for line, I'm using 200 pound fast flight.

Just go to a recurve or longbow, way lighter than them heavy wheelie bows.

Also make sure these slingbows are legal in CA, I was talking with Mike (runs the Carp Roundup) at Big Bear Lake yesterday and he said these sling bows are not legal in CA. I haven't heard from DFG or a warden yet.

The dfg definition of bow only requires a string attached on both ends to a flexible material. A sling bow meets those requirements.

yep compleatly legal under the dfg definition of arrow tackle

1.23. BOW AND ARROW FISHING TACKLE. Such tackle must have the arrow shaft or the point, or both, attached by a line to the bow or to a fishing reel (includes crossbow).

28.95. SPEARS, HARPOONS AND BOW AND ARROW FISHING TACKLE. Spears, harpoons and bow and arrow fishing tackle may be used for taking all varieties of skates, rays, and sharks, except white sharks. Such gear may not be possessed or used within 100 yards of the mouth of any stream in any ocean waters north of Ventura County, nor aboard any vessel on any day or on any trip when broadbill swordfish or marlin have been taken. Bow and arrow fishing tackle may be used to take finfish other than giant (black) sea bass, garibaldi, gulf grouper, broomtail grouper, trout, salmon, striped bass, broadbill swordfish and white shark.

i checked before i even made it.
