Been gigging for frog a few times. Never with the old tyme bow style. The first time I went my friend was holding the spot light on a frog and i was lining up to stick it. Then just behind the frog I see a big carp cruising. I drove the gig home and nailed it. My buddy didn't see the carp till it was thrashing around on the end of gig. Fun stuff.
Me and a buddy use to clean up on huge bullfrogs using bows down around Prado Dam, those were some fun nights.
We used to bow gig fish on the Big Piney and Current Rivers when I lived in MO. I lost my gig and was looking for a new one when I found that website. It's mostly a MO/AR river thing in the Ozark Mtns. Hand forged gigs are hard to come by as that website noted, it just hasn't been passed down to the younger generations. The gigs you can buy now are mostly crap and don't last long. If anyone knows a good source for hand forged gigs please let me know. Thanks.
