BigAssWhiteBoy and myself went to Lake Henshaw today. We got 1 fish each. I made the mistake of trying to be a nice guy and not go directly for my normal area because I could see 3 fly fisherman working the area. So I zigged when I should of zagged. When we finally got down there another bow fisherman was working the area and he had 6 on a stringer. He said it was pretty could shooting. The wind picked up as soon as we started to work the area but BAWB did mange to get his first bow fish ever before we were blown out. Other than the wind it was a great day up there.

Good for BAWB. That wind there is a bitch and a killer if you're not prepared. What time did the wind kick up?

I'd say it started around 10:30. At first it was manageable, but by 11 it was blown out .
You missed the spawn by three weeks. Three weeks ago you could walk across them on the East side of the lake. I put over a hundred in the bucket in 5 hours.
100! Thats some small carp or a big bucket. I think they are still spawning. We just got blown out. Hard to see them splashing around when its white capping.
Spawn comes and goes with the water temps. Call Lake Henshaw office and ask them, they should know if the spawn kicks in again,.

They were small carp and the bucket is a 60 gallon rubber feeder bucket. It stands up in the boat much better than a trash can. As far as Henshaw fish size the biggest one I've ever taken there was 12lbs most are in the 2-3 pound range that we get during the spawn.
