Default How about some peacock for dinner?

Anyone ever hunt peacock or any other feral non-game? A friend of mine was visiting family near Solvang and said that he was introduced to peacock hunting. They also told him that they have taken a few feral cows too. I remember a thread about the cows a while back. He said the peacock tasted great.

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000. The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

Not a game animal in CA. However, didn't stop my late cousin from shooting one...by accident (I think). He wasn't much of a hunter, but back when we were teenagers, I took him on a pheasant hunt in a a partially wooded area I hunted a lot, with permission from the owner. I specifically warned him that the land owner had peacocks and half kiddingly told him NOT to shoot one. Guess I should have been more serious. We hadn't gone a hundred yards when the brush exploded. I recognized it immediately, but noticed my cousin raising his shotgun. I yelled NO, but it was too late. Figures, he usually couldn't hit anything...this time, dead peacock. I told him to get out of there, then made the long walk to tell the owner what had happened. He was relatively calm, but revoked my hunting privileges on his land (a couple years later he again allowed ME, alone, to hunt). Never thought about eating that peacock...

I'm a friend of peacocks because they eat snakes. I'm sure they taste good though. Like a giant pheasant turkey :)

They should be shot just for that very annoying yell they have in the morning!! That, and I can use their feathers to tie flies.
