Default CAREFUL, EPIDEMIC BEGINNING TO SPREAD

Now that I have your attn. I just wanted to share it's official, buckfever has begun to spread rapidly. Out in D15 hiking early before the crowds with family and friends and saw some nice little bucks. Gotta start serious scouting soon. How's everyone doing with their scouting/hiking/getting in shape? I also realized, the gym cannot mirror walking in the woods with a heavy pack and sun beating down on you. Gym is good, outdoors are better! Good luck, have fun, and be safe out there.

My experience today mirrors yours. I guess the light winter didn't hurt nothing at all. I guess they got enough the past few years to sustain so that's good to hear. Good luck to slanttop in drawing X12 and with fishin. 3 more weeks and I'm heading North too for some fishin.

I scouted the San Luis Obispo area this weekend and found a blacktail that will be in the 140's with all his trash. Also found a group of about 20 Hogs. Can't wait for the season to start. had to deal with a lot of Ticks as well.

Yes....There is a cure...It's called coyote, pig, and game cam hunting....It's not a full blown cure....It just takes the edge off until bow season opener...

A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ?"
"No," replied Johnny. "How could he, with just two worms."

I wish I had a crappy one that I have to hike to and a bow to boot. Maybe I can borrow my daughter's $40 long bow! Good luck out there SpiritWalker.

Took an approximate 10-mile hike through one of favorite spots in D11 yesterday. You're right, nothing compares to getting your cardio on in areas where you hunt and under similar conditions as when hunting. Started my hike before sunrise, so I did get to see a few does and other wildlife, which was nice. Didn't see any bucks, as I kept out of actual ridges and places I hunt to leave them undisturbed for the season. Didn't bump into a soul, which I love. Nature, like it was intended to be. :-)

Good for you rcarteaga. Don't you wanna get in to you spots a little just to take a peak at what might be lurking?

I have already got the fever.

Like everyone else here, I am thinking of getting out soon while the bucks are still in velvet and easier to spot, as they gorge themselves early and late in every high meadow.

Been checking out my old zones for new trails with Google Earth.

Been surfing the internet hunting sites for all info on the Calif deer zones.

I'm not sure what's worse right now. My poison oak rash or my buckfever! God I'm allergic to that stuff. If I look at poison oak or bucks I get the itch!

There's a shot for it. Sometimes two shots if you miss the first one.
Well, there was a bump, a thump, a cloud of dust, and the smell of turnips wafting through the air...

I always catch the fever when Im fishing Upper Twin lakes above Bridgeport. I've never had the chance to hunt there (maybe this year :) ) but I've been hiking and fishing in every canyon /finger 10 miles in for over 15 years. It sure would be fun to hunt those high areas.
