Default The good news is I can stalk to within 50 yards of a pig...

The bad news is someone decided they wanted a pig bad enough to shoot over my head, the dude claimed he didn't see my blaze orange somehow and of course it was a coincidence he fired a rushed shot right from behind me and up the hill as I was kneeling to take my shot...yeah. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he saw me about to nail my first public land hog and wanted some of the action. One shot and all my hard work and long stalk were wasted. At least he missed (me and the pig). Oh well I'm not mad just bitter (and thankful to be alive) haha. 2/3 on seeing hogs on fhl trips at least.

So... Anyone know if WU has any ranches near Santa Barbara?

This is the second time I've heard of crazy hunters at FHL. Maybe they should rename it WTF?
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000. The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

Well up until yesterday my experience as a noobie has been overwhelmingly positive at FHL, met some real nice folks. Theirs just always a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest of us. I also vaguely recall one about some hunters shooting over a guy at some pigs at vandenberg. Stupidity and poor judgement aren't just relegated to any one place sadly.

Let the base know as best you can who he was or what he drove or was wearing. They will revoke him from hunting. Take pride in Ethical Hunting. So few are left that spoil a hunt like that but we can keep them in check.

Blaze Orange is required now in all but 9 states. Many states are now requireing a hat in addition to the 4-500 sqin of orange. There are new vests now that look orange to us humans but game see a different light spectrum and see the vest as cammo. Expensive but cool.

BTW great attitude for the hunt. Thank God for sending fast Guardian Angels that day. Keep up the hunts.

Always contact the base authorities about any illegal activity. It is in our own best interests (as legal, ethical hunters) to help purge those who might jeopardies all of our privileges on this base... It wouldn't take but a few incidents like this for a base commander to say enough.

What a jerk. I wonder what his reaction would be if he tried that and someone fired back in self defense.

Some people are just stupid. Glad you didn't get shot.
