    Default X3A

Well, I finally gave up on the G3 dream. I took my 10 pts. and split them with a buddy to put in for X3A. That gives us 5 pts. and hopefully success in the draw. That being said, any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated! I'm hoping my attempts at good karma come back to help me! Best of luck to you all come June 2nd....

5 points should get you x3a. It has had some great bucks in the past but the past 2 years it hasn't been what it used to be. I dont want to discourage you at all because there are still alot of great bucks. It will just take some time scouting. Where are you planning to hunt?

I think the entire state has suffered just as the X zones have. In the 60's and 70's, the crew used to harvest great bucks up in D6, the herd is now pathetic. Even the private A zone property has seen a huge decrease here.... I plan to check out the far north western section. I'll find a high spot as far from the road as I can get and glass alot. A buddy has some info for areas around Adin as well. Thanks for the reply.... Mike

That does it Mike...You are now certifiably insane....G3 is only possible for those that continue to put in for it with MAX points....You are a better friend than I!

I know Jeff.... I figure once every 5 years in an X zone is better than once every 30 in G3 I just got tired of waiting.... Litch, Lago.... Feel free to join us if you have any points, or are you holding out for your "secret canyon" in X7B. A little bird told me it begins with an "N"

I hope the five points are enough. The DFG posted sucess rate for X3a last year was fairly decent. I think a lot of people will see it and seclect it as a first choice. For that reason I almost went with X4 as my choice( was up there this weekend and saw multiple deer). However, I put in for X3a as well with five points. I have already put in for the full X3a season off from work. I am looking forward to the season.

Good luck with the draw and the hunt.
