This past week, I caught a 34", 14LB Striper out of the Stanislaus River. It's by far the biggest thing I've pulled out of there. As you can tell, I was super excited!
That's a great fish.
Thats a great fish congrats

Semper Fi!
You mess with the bull, You get the horns!
That's a dandy!
What's your technique/bait/lure etc?
I have to try striper fishing sometime.
Think me not unkind and rude,
That I walk alone through grove and glen.
I go to seek the God of the wood,
And fetch His word to men.
Thanks guys. It's very simple, and cheap. Tie a 2 or 4 oz weight to the end of your line. Then tie a hook onto the line, about 2-3 feet above the weight. Put a piece of anchovy onto the size 2 or 4 hook, and you're good to go. Or you could fish with crawdads, or lures. I haven't had any luck with any kind of lures.
Right now the striped bass are going up the rivers to spawn. You won't find fish this size living in the river year round. They'll spawn and go back down to the delta, or bay. According to the DFG, a 34 inch striper is about 11 years old.
Is this a C & R fishery since the fish are traveling for spawning? That is great that shore anglers have access to such trophy fish.
You got me excited enough, that I had to bring back my Musky avatar.

Hey now, that's a great fish too!
It's catch and release for any striper under 18 inches. Other than that, it's voluntary. I will say this though, Striped Bass make some delicious fish tacos! :)
Awesome striper, trophy for sure after evading fisherman for over a decade, thanks for sharing!....tra

Helluva fish bro! I sure miss catching stripers off Grizzly Island. We have Wipers south of where I am in a lake that I'm going to go after, but no stripers.
THE WORST DAY OF HUNTING OR FISHING IS BETTER THAN THE BEST DAY AT WORK
Nice fish!
