    Default Question for you Taxi's

Here's a question for you Taxi's. I know a lot of guys use the beetles to strip the flesh for a euro mount. However, I don't have beetles. I usually do the 4 to 8 week "soak it in water" method. So today I got this hair brain idea. What if I was to add a little bakers yeast to help speed up the process? I'm pretty savy on how shine is made. I was just wondering, has anybody ever heard of doing this?

A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ?"
"No," replied Johnny. "How could he, with just two worms."

Boil it. It will be done in a weekend. I take as much flesh and meat off as I can with a caping knife. Then boil it for 8 hours or so.

It also helps to add a little cheap powdered laundry detergent.

Maceration, I have found to work best for me. It takes me 2 weeks. Keep water in a room, garage at 70 plus degrees....this grows bacteria. Each week dump 2 thirds of water out and add fresh. This keeps some bacteria to cultivate new with and removes oder. If a third week is needed go ahead. Remove skull and while wet, pick n scrape remaining flesh. Don't use a sharp knife on soft bone. Wash out brain cavity with garden hose. To finish, place skull in SIMMERING WATER. No boiling, boiling sets grease oils into bone. Water can contain about 2 tbls of dawn dish soap. Simmer for 15 minutes and scrape again if needed. Viola! Clean skull. Remember this is just the basics. Each species differ in prep work. Bleaching can also be done during this time. Hope this helps you, its worked well for me.

Im with Flingem71, never ever boil skulls. Ive always used beetles, but most guys I know macerate their skulls. Use techniques that are tride and true and you will have less headaches,.................just my two cents
