Default should Ted Nugent be a representative for the NRA or outdoorsmen?

I wanted to run this by all my fellow gun owners and outdoorsmen after his Taped speech at the NRA convention concerning Obama and his administration. I personaly feel like he does more harm than good for our side with all the hate mongering. I am a republican and want a new president but I think his statements made all of us look like backwoods lunatics. I always liked Nugent for fighting for gun rights and hunting rights even though he was a little whacky. I have watched Nugent's shows and enjoyed them, but I think he crossed the line and made us all look bad. What do you guys think?

I agree rem4me, his comments were over the line. Even though I believe this president has been a setback to many of the advances this country has made over the years these type of visceral comments toward our president only help to fuel the divisiveness that has gripped this country. Ted Nugent has been a great advocate for gun and hunting rights and has often spoke out and represented us well in a manner that makes sense but there is no need for him to stoop to these levels. IMO this is more ammo for the anti gun advocates.
    Have fun out there.

I don't care for Mr. Nugent. Having said that; I would rather have him in our tent pissing out, than out of our tent pissing in.

I admire Mr. Nugent's strenght of conviction. His delivery could use a little polish. He would probably argue that "this is the way I am, I'm not going to change for anyone."
His beleifs do mirror most of mine, but his manner of expression really grates on me.
So no, I would not want to see Ted Nugent as a NRA rep.

I think he says what a lot of people think but have the tact to not say outloud. He's fun to live vicariously through.

He was basically saying that if things keep going like they are going we may need a new American revolution. Aren't a lot of people thinking that to some degree or another? Did he say anything that wasn't true? If not, should we be bothered by the fact he's speaking the truth? Are there some truths so dangerous they shouldn't be expressed?

I'm glad he speaks his mind regardless.

He could maybe use a little more "spit and polish", but I'm glad we all can use our First Ammendment rights to try and perserve our 2nd Ammendment rights.

It seems when ever our side get a little fired up, we're looked upon as "backwoods lunatics". When the other side gets fired up, they are applauded for sticking to their convictions.

F no! He makes stupid statements (like Biden) and is a self confessed poacher/reality TV show sellout! Sorry Ted...you did it to yourself.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000. The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.

IMHO, uncle ted is from a time long gone past, when people spoke their minds regardless of consequences, stuck to their convictions and come hell or high water is going to exercise his rights. He says what many are afraid to voice, does what many can't because of lack of money and even though he is abrasive in his word and tone, he has the whiner socialist gun taking peta folks running for cover... His words have been taken out of context much like rush linbaugh's words about wanting barry soetero to fail, he said nothing about harming the POTUS, he said volumes about the current negative state of affairs and the path the POTUS has forced us to take and how that path is far distant from the Constitution or Bill of Rights...

The statements he makes don't bother me so much as the poaching. I can't rightly say that anyone with multiple poaching convictions should be a spokesman for outdoorsmen.

Ok I agree with everyone, but just because he is famous and we all know he is a little nuts, is it ok that he speeks for us. I mean look at all the tree hugger actors that speak out for their cause's, I look at them like total idiots with the things they say. I also think the fact that Ted has plead guilty to numerous hunting violations doesnt help us either. I am just saying he is so out there that maybe he does more harm than good for us. What do you guys think?

What "harm" are you referring to? Are you not going to give money to the NRA? Will you not join the NRA now?

ead that link and that is why I will never belong to the NRA again. I was a life member until I called them and told them to cancel my membership. The NRA is nothing but a sell out.

So the NRA has done nothing to help the 2nd Amendment? If not the NRA then can you recommend another group?

Well, anybody who doesn't think the NRA helps in our fight to protect the 2A needs to quit ingesting whatever mind altering substance they are addicted to.
