Varmint hunting the high desert

Does anyone know about varmint hunting in the high deserts by apple valley or adelanto area.

I don't think those areas are open to rifles. Shotgun, yes for sure. Check the firearms discharge maps to be sure. Apply valley is shotgun only. I know that. Up by Barstow is open to rifles. Been there. Done that. Good hunting for jacks and yotes. If you find a guzzler or cattle pond, just post up in rage of it and wait a while. HTH -sam

I have been hunting since I was little; got a 410 when I was 13. I gave up hunting but now am re-habbing an owl and so broke out the .22 to pick off squirrels. It is weird how we all go back to our roots. It makes me want to go buy a bird dog and travel to the rice paddies to go pheasant hunting. Also, 37 years has gone by and I'm a better shot today, than when I was 13. Crazy. Can you use Feist dogs for ground squirrels?
