I just read in yesterday's L.A. Times that the USFS is getting rid of the Adventure Pass for all but a few of the areas in the National Forests. Anybody have any new info? I know the 9th Circuit Court just ruled against the AP and sent a case back to the lower court for an amended ruling but it appears that the USFS is going one better and getting rid of the AP fees.

Wonder if I can get the $10 back that I paid for a lifetime senior pass. Yeah, right!
Gun control means hitting what you shoot at!
You will still need the pass if you utilize "developed" locations. What that means is, if the park has paved sites or permanent toilets and you utilize any of the services you will be required to have the pass. However use of porta johns, dirt roads, picnic tables, etc will not require the pass. Technically you could park in the dirt and use the "developed" bathrooms but and not have a pass but its one of those things if they catch you.

Does "prorated" for the lifetime pass mean you would have to tell them when you plan to die?

That was just kind of tongue-in-cheek. Ain't really worth the trouble & of course, they wouldn't really know if they could do it or not. Never have got a straight answer out of them yet.

Actually, what the court ruled was that all persons could use the land and even park in the improved areas. The public would only have to pay a use fee when actually using an improved facility. The forest service cannot deny access to any public land merely because an improved area is at the end of a road.
