First off a big congrats to all the JR's and everyone who had the opprotunity and took a JR out this past weekend! I saw alot of smiles on kids walking in with a duck in their hands...puts everything into perspective on what's really important. That's the future of hunting right out there with us so again good job to all.
I only have 1 junior left who qualifies and we were at SAC Saturday morning. Glad to see you make it up to the window Bossbrot, I was beginning to think something happened and you didn't make it. We hit one of my favorite holes and my boy who just switched over to a 12ga on this hunt was like a machine. He ended up with 5 mallards, 1 sprig and a teal with only 14 shots! Hell, that's better than me 99.9% of the time.

We then headed over to Delevan to get in on the lottery for Sunday. We decided to try freeroam (which I don't ever hunt) based on a report from a couple buddies of mine (thanks bux-n-dux) and set up in some big water. After a few whiffs at teal point blank he got back on target and limited with 4 spoons, 2 gads and a bull can. The best part of the day was yet to come though. As we were picking up decoys the geese were flying in between us and the road so I told him to go sit in this little tule patch and just pretend you're not there while we pick up decoys since the bird will be flaring towards you with us out walking around. Just as my other boy and I are done picking up I see 3 specks fly towards him. I hit my son and say "watch this, let's see if he whiffs". They start to skirt the patch and I see my boy stand up and dump 2 of them. He was one big smile....and so was I.JR day2 2012.jpg
Looks like you guys had a great weekend! I sure miss the jr hunts. Give him a high 5 for his shooting.
That boy can shoot congrats to the both of you
hntndux, It was tuff getting all 8 up to the window, let alone my 2! What a great trip. As a group the kids ended with 78 ducks and 15 geese. We had a huge feast on Saturday night beside the campfire. Funny thing is, I had a hard time sleeping Friday night as I was so fired up. Next year Im shooting for 15 new shooters, and I dont think that should be a problem as Im the new assistant coach of the Colfax High School Trap Team. Never let a good opportunity go to waste.
Awesome stuff bossbrott! Congrats to all!! Good luck on the new coaching job too.
