So since Tejon canceled my hunt for Feb 3-5 I scrambled and put a hunt together with Deedy from Bryson Hesperia. Sounds like it will be a fun time and that they have some hogs. Anyone hunted up there that can give me any insight to the hunting areas? Does anyone know the lay of the land, is it hills, canyons or fields, what do you think will be the best plan?
As soon as I get back I will throw some pics and the story up here.
Thanks
she will give you a tour of your hunt area and the low down on where when she thinks the pigs will show. she knows what she is talking about.
Did she happen to mention how busy they were?
I'm considering going down there.

Sorry; I work on a military installation. That's what THEY call it. Of course they also have an acronym for everything.......
It's good to have a plan. That way you have something to change.......
IRT prev post, WTH? LOL

How did the hunt go?
How was the hunt? Im goin up on Feb. 18 and am wondering how good the hunting is
Well, the hunt was a little disappointing, we were shown a main field that we could go in for pigs, and was told it was 1200 acres, of which 900 of the acres are flat open land that does not have any trees on it. The remaining balance of the land looked like great pig country, but our problem was that in the middle of the good hunting area the land owner was building a pad for a home and had two dozer/graders operating with workers dropping pipe. Everyone was talking really loud over the generators, grading motors and guys driving in and out of the property. I had called to complain about our situation to Deedee and was told, "Oh, I never know what the land owner is gonna do on that property" So in my opinion, I would not recommend the location or go back. The other areas that we were shown and told they hold pigs had no sign, no rooting or tracks. Might be a good area when the barley gets growing, but our hunt was not good since the only decent area with pig sign had guys working during the best hunting hours. Even when we went to the Bee Rock store for a beer after hunting the owner of the store, said "were you the guys hunting out in the field? I drove in to deliver some pizza's to the guys working, kinda felt bad driving into your hunting area" I said thanks, but still was a waste of money.
well thats dissapointing to hear. you didnt any pigs at all?
*see
BHR's hunting properties held some pigs when it first started the hunting operation. Those are the good days when the posted video was made. Ever since baysolid, some of you may or may not know him, brought in dog hunt for hogs, it was a hit or missed to catch a hog on the properties. I've hunted the place once a few years ago and would not go again or recommend it to anyone. I was going to chime in when this post first started but some guys posted some highly recommendation on BHR so I just sit back and watch what it really is. I guess I wasn't the only one that got skunked at BHR. I did saw some pigs. About 6 orphan footballs that their mama was probably shot by two hunters that were there the weekend before me.
From talking to Deedee when I was there, one thing I wanted to say about Deedee is, "Not one word from her mouth was honest." I also found out that if you do the day trespass hunt, $200/day, then all you got to hunt are the fields that btrebil mentioned. If you do the fully guided hunt, $700/2day, then Deedee partnered with Tom Willoughby in King City. If the guide cannot find a hog for you on Deedee's property, then Tom Willoughby came into play and there's your hog on Tom's lease. I believed many of BHR's fully guided hog hunters got their hogs this way.
BHR has some good cabins and turkey hunts. You will be comfortable in the cabins and a see a good number of turkeys. But For hogs, it's very much a gamble. I guess the $200/day speaks for itself compared to other places that charge $600 for a hunt.
Interesting report from btrebil and the above from Live2hunt. I have a buddy who hunted there last year on the "semi-guided". He clearly felt he was given trespass rights to the marginal areas and the good areas (fields with barley) were reserved for those who paid for the fully guided hunts. I too did not want to give any negative vibes before as I did not have any first hand knowledge (I personally have not been there) but now I'm interested to know....
WHO HAD A SUCCESSFUL SEMI-GUIDED HOG HUNT AT BHR AND WHEN WAS IT?
I'll be seeing Tom Willoughby for dinner in 10 days and see what he has to say.
Well that's truly disappointing.

As stated, the barley fields don't even have any barley right now, most of the fields are bare and the only decent area that had pig sign had workers cutting a pad for a new home site. I was utterly disappointed in the hunt and would not go again, but on a short notice from getting the shaft from Tejon, took the opportunity. Did have a good time with my father, but was definitely disappointed in the properties.
Btrebil,
Did she showed you the 1000 acres that goes down to Lake Nacimiento? And the canyon where the game cam was hung?
Anyone else going there, be sure to ask where the grain and corns were spread and make sure to stay 400 yards from it.
Im goin there next week. Should i ask her if we can hunt Tom's land?
I'm guessing Tom or Blake are who will be your guide if you buy the fully guided hunt, and your hunt may probably be done within a couple hours on Tom's lease. If you buy the $200/day trespass hunt, I doubt that you will hear a thing about Tom or Blake during your hunt.
Well we got the semi guided so i hope that the pigs decide to go on her properties. She talked with my cousin and told him that there is a lot of sign and that the pigs are out and about. But reading all this makes me doubt that
Read my line in one of my previous post
I said that because when I hunted there, she to me that there were 80 pigs in the thick stuff above the open field. I busted the entire brush patch, found all the springs, found all the pig beds, and all I saw of fresh pig signs were the ones made by the 6 orphan football size piglets that I saw. The beds in the thick stuff were over a month old. The barely field were waiste high nice and green like you see on the video, but there were no sign of pigs. Usually if there were pigs going through the waiste high barely, you will see trails. I saw nada. From talking to Deedee when I was there, one thing I wanted to say about Deedee is, "Not one word from her mouth was honest."
I'm sure being there at the right time you will see them. But the properties does not have any resident pigs in it. They just pass through. If you already paid, then hope for some very good luck. Otherwise I would say shell out the extra $$ for the fully guided hunt and I'm sure you will go home with a pig.
She mentioned nothing about any other properties or any property that went down to the lake. In my opinion, I would not go back, if you can get on better land by paying more, you would be better set doing that, since I feel it was a waste of $800 for two days for my dad and I. Also, like I said, there is no barley right now, the fields are still bare, just starting to sprout up, but mostly dirt still.
