Default Abalone Earring for best answer

What is it? So in the spirit of Jesse's what is this piece of gear posts, I'm going to send two sets of abalone ear rings Ear rings.jpg

to the person who comes up with the best answer to what this piece of equipment is. It is at Middle Ranch on Catalina. It has a pair of front and back wheels, these big metal side boards but no platform in between and this hook and chain affair you can see. It can be steered by using the metal handle to turn the ?front set of wheels. The wheel rims are metal and appear to have some form of thin rubber type solid wheel that is very perished. It may have been made out of a pair of bicycles. I have made the picture big so you can see it well. I will let Jesse decide the winner as I don't know what it is myself.

It's a carcass mover. For hoisting ...say hogs... and moving them into a processing area.

It was made for a fish monger he would hang a tuna or the catch of the day on it and then drag it threw town it hopes to sell it. The reason it's at the ranch is because on of the old hands tried using it for things like moving a bail of hay around and it was pulled by a goat it was kind of a multi function tool and yes butchering is one of them the ranch ended up buying a skip loader so they parked it

It is one of them homemade ric-shaw things. Jesse had it made so Belch could take him home after a night of drinking. As you know Jesse is very anti drunk driving, but does like to drink. So he fixed up the old bicycle so Belch could give him a ride home from the bar. The hook was used to lift Jesse into the ric-shaw if he had passed out.

Default JESSE- you have to decide

Jesse: It is going to be your call as to the "winner". I like Common Sense's answer but you will have to decide. If it someone who I have arready send some ear rings to, I'll substitute a set of my new shotgun shell salt and pepper shakers.

Heck I don't have any idea what that contraption was used for. Dustin seems to know what it was used for and LtDan guessed that first but CS has a good reply too.

Andy, I'd say flip a coin unless you want to honor the first to guess what it was.

I like CS's answer. Besides, at his age he's in desperate need of a set of ear rings...just sayin'.

    Default The winner is!

In view of Jesse's reply and the holiday spirit:

The winner is Ltdann, Dustin Ray AND Common Sense.

I'll send Ltdann a set of my shotgun S&P shakers (he already has ab ear rings but that is another story) and DR and CS, PM me with your mailing address and I'll drop the abalone ear rings in the mail.

    Happy Holidays you all.

Default You can still "win" - don't give up.

Just because the winner was declared doesn't mean you can't win. If you give an answer that is better or funnier, I reserve the right to declare you as a winner as well. Bring it on...

Saw something like this on a farm in PA when I asked what it was I was told it was used to haul hay bails around the farm...a poor mans wheel barell, home made so to speak.
