I am headed up solo for 4 days. send me a message if you heading up, would be good to know someone else up there in general area.
my sons and i will be up around tanglefoot, i think one is heading out thursday and the other one and l will be leaving friday
sounds good, best of luck to you and your boys, i wont be over that way.
ya ill be up around wrights lake hiking up the equestrian trail for a few miles the out to wherever in that area
Will be heading into the Carson Iceberg Wilderness opening weekend:)
saw lots of does, 1 tiny spike buck at 20 yrds, and glassed up 2 other larger bucks. one was glassed up at last light across the canyon, only saw him for about 1 minute before he disappeared again and wasnt able to locate him again the next am. the next buck was glassed up way off, took me over an hour to get close enough and with a view to glass where i last saw him, didnt locate him again. oh well, lots of sign and a fun trip. saw zero bear sign. oddly on saturday afternoon there were 4 rifle shots back in there, def had to be someone poaching a bear or a deer, my gps read 7.5 miles from trailhead and 2000 vertical ascent, thats a long hike for some target practice.
I too heard a couple rifle shots in the distance sat. afternoon........a bit odd i thought. Saw ton of bear sign, and a glance of a nice 3 pointer, too far off for a draw and wasn't able to located him again. Tons of water and lots of flowers, the aspens are loving this spring.
itawes, where you in a wilderness area?
sorry, just saw your question. i was between hwy 4 and the highland creek boundary. gonna head back up on friday if anyone is around. last time i was up was archery season and didnt see a soul. i doubt that will be the case during rifle season. looks like decent weather, slight chance of rain friday night and saturday, and the moon looks good.
pm sent with honey hole info.
if you head in there please let me know whats going on. head out down the road at least 1 1/2 hours before dawn and wait and glass at the bottom of the first block of timber.
have fun i wish i was going. by now all the road monkeys and lazy asses will have pushed them all down and over there.
oh yeah you better have some good boots it gets a bit steep.
does anyone have a pulse on how much it snowed last weekend and if the deer are holding out............or long gone?
Well please let me know how it goes brother. I'd like to try packing in there abouts next year.
