Black bear in A Zone and D14 in CA

I got my bear tag today

I will be going bow hunting up in big bear for 9 days. On 8-19-11 to 8-28-11 first time hunting. I will be camping all 9 days. Any bow hunters that would like to go you can call me any time at 909-800-0609

When is bear season? I could be wrong but doesn't it run the same time as deer season?

Archery Bear season opens Aug 20 - Sept 11 ( The archery bear season shall open on the third Saturday in August and extend for 23 consecutive days)
General Bear season opens with General deer season in each respective deer zone

are you gonna be backpacking in or camping at a campsite i might be able to go with you. hunting bear with a bow sounds exciting.

I live here in Big Bear and will be hitting the woods myself. The bears have not been around in high numbers like last year. You may want to spend a little time around Forrest Falls and then North of Seven Oaks campground. I will be more than happy to let you know how things are looking in the next few weeks as the season gets closer.

My buddy kept seeing a big one by Bear Creek but it was always on the other side...... OK But I do know there are plenty of bears running around BB. One Lt Brown near Sugar Loaf, 2-3 possibly family running from Moonridge to BBC at Paradise A big Golden colored by the village area and another in Fawnskin. I still have a friend that looks up calls for nuisance bears with the sheriff. Locations are old but the homes there tend to feed the bears with bad garbage control and the bears are always out on trash day. Just a hint to start the tracking. Bad People feed bears that will die, one way or another.
