The big trout tourney was a couple weeks ago, shouldn't be a problem. We just need the weather to stay warm up there and hope for no wind. It howled up there last weekend.

i saw this also about 11-12 $50k fishing tourny. with that big a fish derby going on ill bet it will be quite packed, both boats and shore fishing also.

I can say that the carp are starting to spawn a bit, actually i found a few spots today that had carp going off!! all over the place and out of the water all over, today was my first time ever bowfishing and i shot 9 from the shore, 8 were from this little spot where they were in weeds off shore a little and i was picking them off for about 2 hours from shore after i had boat out and going home, just happen to stop and check a spot out and heard them sucking and then saw them coming out of water. Then stopped another spot where a buddy asked me to check out and they were all over coming out the water, more off shore a bit but then i saw a few just 10ft off edge so i still had bow strung so got out in flip-flops and shot one real quick and continued heading home. Gonna head up maybe for 1/2 day on WED again too. ill let ya know what i see.

They have fishing tournaments at Big Bear all the time, trout and bass. The bowfishing tourney used to be held on the free fishing day and it wasn't a problem except for the launch ramp was pretty busy. The trout boat guys will be trolling in the middle of the lake. Shore could get crowded in certain spots so please be respectful of the shore fishermen.

Perfect, Thanks Craig! While I was looking for an inexspensive fishing bow I bid on a Bowtech on Ebay. See what you guys started?!! I will take you up on the bow and Dave is going to grab a fishing rig from Bass Pro for me. This is going to be a blast! I can't wait...

Dayum, I forgot about the Hollywood Celebrity Sporting Clays shoot Fri-Sat in Newhall. I can make it up Sunday to shore bowfish with you guys but Fri-Sat is already penciled in for me to shoot video there.

Do you have enough for the boat rental? If not let me know and I'll put the word out you have an opening.

We have 4 guys total as of now for Saturday. We have room for 2 more guys on the Pontoon Saturday.
We will probably do shoreline on Sunday, unless everyone wants to get the Pontoon again.

Sounds like you guys are going to have a killer time. I was talking to a guy that says when he's shooting from the shore he brings a 6ft ladder and gets on top of it. It elevates him enough and allows him to wade out a few feet and have a 360 degree shooting radius, have any of you guys tried that? I was going to try it this afternoon at a local canal that has some small carp in it.

Yeah I shoot from an 8' a-frame ladder when I shore fish. Wade out into 3-4' of water and set up the ladder. Puts the bottom of your feet 3-4' above the water and really makes the shooting better. You can set up the ladder on a dock too. The Elevation helps to see more fish and give you better shots.
A lot of guys have elevated decks on their boats for this reason

I have to be at the Marina by 0945 to do the paperwork for the boat rental.
We can plan to meet up around 0900 near the Marina saturday morn. There is a Starbucks right there at Big Bear Bl and Paine rd. Across the street from Big Bear Sporting goods
