Backcountry Navigator, for my DroidX. Excellent topo and GPS app...
And, Advanced Task Killer, to shut down or kill apps robbing battery life.

Thanks easymoney, that was my next question, a good topo/GPS app. Got it downloaded.

On the ATK, several people and websites have said ATK actually sucks more battery juice than it saves and I tested it with it off last week and I think they are right. I need to install a battery manager app to prove it but ATK may be a battery hog. Try it off and see what you think?

Drivesafe.ly: Just got this and love it already, this app will autorepond to texts AND email while your driving and also read them as they come in (text to voice) I have set up to say "I'm busy right now, I will get back to ASAP". Also by listening to texts I can decide to pull over if urgent or wait.

Sundroid Free: App give you sun rise/set times (and moon info) of your current location or any other inputted location.

Magnifying Glass: Life saver for old eyes.

CamScanner: Let's you take photo's of documents and receipts, crops and enhances them, then allows you to convert them to .pdf and upload or e-mail them. Awesome for completing travel vouchers.

    Thanks, jesse...
Yeah, I was not sure if the app killer was using as much juice as the apps themselves???
I do love the backcountry navigator app, great GPS and topos.
Another couple I got turned on to, google sky map very cool if you're into stars, sirens ringtones for the same reason you mentioned dog whistle.

I just got this phone a few months ago and am still learning it.

I did some research on app killers and found one article saying that the operating system droids use don't work the same way as a computers OS. It said the apps in the background are not using up memory like a Windows system. It went on to say that the taskkillers will do more harm to your phone than good. Alot of different opinions out there on this one.

That said... when i see my phones memory being used up, i still can't stop myself from using my app, Advanced Task Killer. Just habit i guess.

I do have a few good hunting and fishing apps i use on my droid based phone.

Shooting Time - Vibrates your phone when your shooting time stops and ends.
    Time2Hunt
    Time2Fish
    Sundroid
    Moonshine
    My Tracks
    BackCountry Navigator
    The Weather Channel

All these are free, or the free versions of the app.

I was at the Sprint his week to get a new charger and they said the 4g phones dont like the ATK. They had a google memo on it not to run it because it was crashing hardware n software. They also said the Lookout antivirus i had wasnt needed that the phone comes with a good onboard antivirus.

Love the sprint service, in n out in 15 mins with a new charger at no cost. I do have the $7 a month protection plan. Take that Verizon.
