I sent Scott a hog skull almost 2 years ago. I've called and emailed with no luck getting it finished or getting it back. Now his website says no longer taking any work. If anyone has contact with him please ask him to send my hog skull back. Finished, half finished or not even touched, I don't care. I just want the skull back.
Thanks

He seemed like a pretty stand up guy when I sent my bear skull to him a couple years ago. Bronzed it, measured it, and sent it back without a hitch.
My buddy might still have his info so I'll look into it.

2 years is pretty lame for any mount. 1 year should be the tops for a shoulder mount and I can't see a skull mount taking more than 6 months.
Did you ever get your skull back Jesse?

Scott contacted me by PM on Cal Guns a couple weeks ago. Since I've already moved on and got another skull I told him to just keep the skull I sent him and do whatever he wanted with it. What really burned me was when I last talked to him by phone on Sept 2010 his excuse on why the skull wasn't done was that he had been laid up with a bad back and hadn't been doing anything and then I hear he's out deer hunting in X9 and shot a deer. One would think if you can deer hunt you'd be able to put a skull in a beetle box or have your son do it for you. Or at least contact the owner about your work status and ship it back if you are really that disabled and can't do the work. Put me down as done with this and yet another bitter taste left in my mouth from a taxidermist.

Too bad to hear about that. Some years ago, my uncle caught a 70+ pound ling cod up in Alaska. He wanted to get a head mount done (starting just behind the gills) and have it with a vicious-looking open mouth. Instead, what he got almost a year-and-a-half later was a head mount of a fish that had an expression on it's face like it was taking a shit. He was so disappointed in the mount of his amazing fish that he ended up donating it to Sportsman's Supply in San Jose and today there it still hangs.

THE WORST DAY OF HUNTING OR FISHING IS BETTER THAN THE BEST DAY AT WORK
anyone have any contact with him recently? I had the exact same issue. He's had two skulls of mine since 2007!!! My first archery deer, and a pronghorn my dad took on trip to AZ. both very important to me. He's replied to my emails (about once a year) with the same BS. I've called the number to his house too. I try not to think about it too much because it just starts to really piss me off.
is he still on CalGuns? whats his name over there?
bobby, Scott PMed me on Cal Guns using the same name as here grtwythunter.
My suggestion if you want to hear from Scott, post what happened and how he's avoiding you on every hunting forum you can find. It's seems this is only way to get him to respond. Seems it's that way with a few taxidermists.

Amazing isn't it how that works Bobby? No word for months/years and you make one post about it and BANG!!! They suddenly have a working email or cell.
Please let us know if you get your animals back.

Any indication on what happened and why he turned into a flake? The bear skull I sent in came back without a hitch. Just curious to see where he lost his marbles.

to my surprise I finally received my skulls back today. Deer skull he had since 2007, antelope since 2009. I am just glad they are back in my hands. I honestly thought it was a lost cause.
My first skull with him back in 06 was done and back in my hands right away. I have no idea what happened with his situation after that and why the constant dodging and delays.
oh and after opening all the contents of the box, he also sent a refund of what I originally paid him, even though I did tell him not to worry about the money, I just wanted my skulls back (I figured asking for money back might delay things further). So seems like he's trying to make things right. One less thing to worry about for both of us. I had his last email in my inbox for the last 3-4 years, just as a reminder to keep asking about the skulls. I am glad I can finally delete that damn thing!
Congrats dude! Not too often we get good news on stories like this.

Good to hear you got you skulls & money back.
It's so frustrating since taxidermists are hunters and fisherman usually too and they know what memories these skulls have and how important they are. Just simply returning a call or email and if they get hung up with a divorce, lost job or financial problems. Just answer the dang phone and return the dayum things, that's all we ask.

Ide like to see some pictures if you dont mind. I like seeing the pictures of a good successful hunt always :)
Review sites like yahoo, yelp, merchant circle, citysearch, etc exist so you can promote companies that do things right and expose those who don't. Most of my reviews are positive for those who provided exceptional services/value but for those who screw up and make BS excuses and don't make it right, sharing your experience is the ethical thing so they don't screw over others. That's my take anyway. Hope ya get your euros.
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
The U.S. city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 24 per 100,000. The state with the most unrestrictive gun regulations, Vermont, has the lowest murder rate at 0.48 per 100,000.
Yelp is a joke, they filter reviews and shake down businesses over it which made the headlines a year back.
