March 11 2001 is the official date for the forum turn on, I can't believe it's been a decade already.
A big thank you to all the members who hang out here and share their stories, info and pics. The mods and other admins also need a huge thank you for spending time here to help. Please holler if I missed anyone.
I was just at another outdoor show this past weekend and it always nice to have folks come up and say how much they appreciate the JHO forum and website and how it's helped them somehow. That and how they always tell me how they made some great friends and hunting buddies from here. You guys and gals rock.
For those wondering about how JHO was spawned, Hoss from the forum here had a free hunting forum on "Be Seen" Forums called "California Deer Hunting" back in the late 90s. CDH had a link off the DFG website that funneled a lot of members to that forum along with some of us who helped spread the word to other websites. When Be Seen announced they were going to close all their free forums a couple people asked me to start a new CA Hunting forum since I had been writing my own hunting webpages for a few years on Geocities. I gathered a couple friends for mods and admins and we started with Ikonboard forum software which evolved into Invisionboard. Back then the forum name was Jesse's Hunting Page (JHP). In 2003 the name was changed to JHO and a real LLC company was formed. A few years back we stepped up to Vbulletin forum software that we use today.
Where is JHO headed in the next 10 years? We're working on a complete overhaul of the whole site to make it easier to navigate and find info. The forum change was the first upgrade (Phase 1). We're working on the what they call the back end, the software that will make the rest of the site work a lot better. Members will be able to have their stories become articles to be shown on the main index home page if they want is one new item we'll have. We've added Tapatalk to allow you to post from a Smartphone anywhere is another innovation members already like.

Happy Birthday JHO! Thanks Jesse and all you admins too. I have enjoyed my four years reading the forum. The only blight in four years was Inchr48s reference to Belch's Bad Moon Rising. Took the song off my Ipod, but hasn't helped. Anyway, thanks again to everyone that helps keep this forum going.

Wow, what a ride! Looking forward to the next 10 years. I found this site looking for home-brew camera ideas and it has been an absolute blessing to me! Thanks to Jesse and the others for everything. It's a great site and will always be a great place to meet new hunting buddies and swap stories.
Maybe even one of these days we could start back up with the Texas JHO get togethers. Maybe this year I will be able to coordinate being in California with a JHO get together of some sort as well.

It's been a wild 1st 10 for sure....the highs, the lows and the in-betweens. Hard to believe the Yahoo groups were well over a decade ago as well.
