Default Shooting skeet in baldy mesa area?

This may not be in the right forum but does anyone know if you can shoot skeet in the Baldy Mesa, Cajon pass area? According to the map from FireArmsMaps, it shows the Baldy mesa area as a Shotgun and Skeet zone but there are signs when entering the area from Cajon pass side that say no shooting. I also see broken clays on the ground.

Could it also be that the no shooting signs are to keep people from discharging firearms near the RR tracks and atv areas?
If the area is shotgun only, I don't know that there would be a problem. However, when in doubt - check with the USFS.

I would wonder if it is ok to hunt with a shotgun there but not target shoot.

I have hunted the mesa area with a shotgun. There are/were quail and jacks, with a few yotes to be called.
But that was then, so check again before heading out.

May I suggest you invest $2 and buy the map? I did and now don't have to worry about 'is it legal'? It is right there in color and the outside flap says "Prepared by the County of San Bernardino". I have waved it at 'park ranger' who was giving out misinformation. It kinda ends the 'I'm official' rap.

TonyS, which map do you have and where did you get it?

It may be legal to hunt an area and in the same area it could be illegal to target shoot, most areas are like that.

TonyS might be referring to this map...

Thanks. I had a feeling it was that one but didn't know where to get the newest issue. The one I have is so far out of date it isn't funny.

I was talking about the San Bernardino shooting map. The county sells it delivered to your mail box for $2. Bass Pro Shop sells it for $10.

    Here's the address:

San Benardino County Special Districts Dept.
    157 West 5th Street 2nd Floor
    San Bernardino, CA 92415
