Let's Go Fishing Instructor Training
2/12/10
Waterbury, VT - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department's Let's Go Fishing program is hosting its annual day-long Instructor Training Workshop on Saturday, March 13, 2010. This year's workshop will be at the Edward F. Kehoe Conservation Camp in Castleton. The day's events begin with coffee and registration at 8:30 a.m.
The department is looking for individuals who have an interest in sharing their enthusiasm for fishing and teaching kids and their families about it. "This is an opportunity for Vermonters to join our Fish and Wildlife Department's team of dedicated volunteers who have a passion for fish and wildlife and in this case, fishing," said Mark Scott, Fish and Wildlife Education Manager. "Volunteer Instructors provide the backbone of our state's fish and wildlife educational programs. We are always looking for new members of our team."
The workshop will cover the four themes of a Let's Go Fishing Clinic: Fishing Skills; Tackle Craft; Ecology and Water Resource Management; and Ethics. Participants will learn strategies for conducting successful clinics by engaging in activities designed to encompass these topics. As a certified instructor you can go back to your community, school, or organization and develop fishing clinics that are both educational and fun, and state-certified.
There is no cost for the workshop but pre-registration is required. Please call the Let's Go Fishing office at 802-747-7900 or email trish@gwriters.com to request an application form be mailed to you. All instructors must undergo an intensive background investigation before becoming certified.
