Still trying to get a black bear. Maybe someday a grizzly.
I hunt Black (which come in Black, Cinnamon and Glacier Blue) Bears and coastal Brown Bear.
Johnnie

I am fortunate enough to tree about two dozen black bear or so a year, but sadly, the overwhelming majority are the cinnamon color phase. I have caught two blacks in my life.

Spend most of my bear hunting chasing South Central Alaska Brown Bears. Though, I do see black bears, which I hunt as well. But my passion is hunting brown bears. I'm hoping this spring I can connect.
Will the real Moose Hunter please stand up?
Black bear in PA.
mainly black bears , but have had few oportunities to hunt grizz as well, pretty hair raising ,they likr to live in the alders in slide paths here on the spring when they are open here. can't see 15' in most of the paths ,so wounding them up ain't no fun.

We have Black bears here in the SC upstate but...
The ones I see down on the beaches are of two types
The POLAR BEAR type.
(BIG, HAIRY AND PALE)
Would rather see them shooed back into the water than shot.
The HAIRLESS BEAR.
These are all too common of a bear.
These usually average about 240 lbs and are found on the coast with a gaggle of cubs, 3 coolers, a carton of cigerates and not enough clothes to cover the extra fat that was not used during the winter Hybernation.
As you can well imagine.. I DO NOT HUNT BEARS!!!!!

Blackies is all we have here in Vt.one of these days I might connect ...usually don't exclusivly hunt for them but seem to run into mamma and the cubs during the season and have seen more after the season. 3 times on the day after the season closes here. Once while hunting Bearbrook Park in Nh (bowhunting deer only) had a 150 lber with ear tags come under my stand and wind me and bolt off through some thick brush that I gave up after 10 yards. What a kick. amazing critters !

GOing after my first blackie this summer, in California. Georgia's population is growing fast, so once I get out of the military I will hunt them every year there, but would love to have a nice California Black Bear RUg from my time here. Good luck this season, I willpost anything I see, and especially if I get anything.
Give me a bow, a topo, and two weeks, and I guarantee I'll kill two weeks!!

The muzzle end of a .45 pretty much says "go away" in every language.
This year we will be eating lots of bear! My wife and I both drew tags for fall season in WI, I have a tag for spring in MB, and am going to BC on combo hunt- yea another bear op-all blackies.
In Arizona we only have Black bears and they do show up black or cinnamon.
In 1997 I did manage to take a large (approx live weight 225) 10 1/2 year old sow (she was dry-no cubs). Both my wife and I thought it was the finest tasting wild game we had ever eaten.
Have gone out a few years since, but all I've seen is scat. Maybe this will be the year for a second bear, only the Lord knows for sure.
