Hey I know those two guys. The guy with the blue hat looks like "Pigmisser" at the Tejon POR this past memorial weekend.

Wait, that was no monster striped bass, that was wet sands sculptured in the same of a fish.......hehe.

All kidding aside, that was a big one. My big one was 30" on the tape measure and I believed when we compared the two fish on the beach, yours was about 4-5" longer. So it must have been about 34-35". But man I wish I can get one like the 46" incher that the other guy caught yesterday. I think if we can find a way to get some live anchovies there to use for bait, all those giants stripers will be ours. I'm going to see if I can get a pump at walmart, then go to a Marina that sells live anchovies, get a half scoop and try them.

Ltdann, It's not our bunch that missed the pigs. It's only "Pigmisser" that missed. And I think there was a guy in our bunch named Ed but our Ed said it wasn't him that missed. It was the other Ed.........hehe.

LOL, got some nice fish there. Give shad a try. Hook them through the top of the mouth and butterfly one side. Out in the Delta a couple buddies and myself went through a 1/2lb in about 2 hours. Cought one real nice keeper.

At the surf, about 95% of the fish caught were over the keeper size limit. 9 of us got out limit within 3.5 hours of fishing and I believed the smallest keeper was 24".

The reason why we did not try different bait was because all the stripers we took home only have sand crabs in their gutts. So sand crabs was what we were using as they were there feeding on them. Also catching sand crabs at the surf for bait is cheaper (free) than buying other baits at the tackle shop. But I'm thinking the smaller ones will be pigging on the abundant sand crabs closer to boiling way hitting the shoreline while the bigger ones might be keeping their eyes out for a live anchovy just swimming around right behind the first or second wave breaker.

One of my friend called the other day and said they were catching them the same way at Pacifica as well. So looks like the stripers may be everywhere along the beaches.

    Where are you guys fishing?
For bait I use a cast net one cast I can catch enough smelt for bait to last the day. Finding the bait is the hardest part

    Nice Fish!

Are Sand Crabs the same thing as Sand Fleas? Small crustacean about the size of a large grape that you can find in the sand where the waves are breaking onto shore.

Have dug them and caught all kinds of fish on the FL Gulf Coast using an egg sinker above a swivel, and the bait hook about 12" below it. Better for me on the rising tide.
Think me not unkind and rude,

That I walk alone through grove and glen.

I go to seek the God of the wood,

And fetch His word to men.

I took my 2 girls with me this past Saturday morning to Rio Vista fishing from the bank. Using cut Anchovies, and man the bite was on. No keeper's, but it was about non-stop action.

I went by myself the weekend before also to Rio Vista, and it was the same. The wind was alot calmer though the weekend prior!
