I've often pondered my motivation for sitting at a fly-tying vise and cranking out these life-like replicas of bugs found in streams. I understand the desired result of my time spent - a fish in hand. But why do I sit and toil at the vise when I can easily purchase the exact same fly at a shop, whether physically or online?
