Problems with my Sensor.. Help

I just built my first ###"homeBrew" game camera according to the avaliable plans. ###I used the canon PF ###and Radio Shack Sensor. ###My problem is that I am testing It out now before I make the final Adjustments, but the sensor only seems to work out to about 8 Feet. ###I have the sensor mounted back in its casing with the fresnal lens in place. ###Only activates the camera from the 8 foot Range. ###Can anybody help? ###Have I done somthing wrong?? ###Waiting.........

Try fliping the lens upside down. ###Are the batts strong? ###
