    Default HELLO FROM PERRIS CA

Hi, I found this site searching for areas to hunt by lake perris. I used to bowhunt deer as a kid. I have 3 dogs I would like to start hunting with. They are apbt and would make good catch dogs but I dont think there is any hog hunting spots close by. What can I hunt out here in socal that is close to perris? I dont really want to drive too far. I know that I can hunt ducks at the sjwa and thats about it. So question is what can i hunt and where can I hunt it that is close by? any good jackrabbit spots out here?

Welcome to the forum. If you live in Perris, your not too far from D-19 (deer). Take Ramona Expressway to the 74 and head to hills (Idyllwild area). The success rate is low, but if you do your homework you should have no problems finding them. Like anywhere else, if you get a mile or two off the road your chances multiply tremendously. Also, check this out regarding SJWA. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/lands/wa/region6/sanjacinto.html Good luck...

A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ?"
"No," replied Johnny. "How could he, with just two worms."

thanks for the replies guys. the sjwa is right around the corner from me. like 5 minutes. i could walk there if i wanted. I go there alot, the upland game area sucks, theres nothing in there at all. its just empty feilds. I have only seen 2 rabbits, and i go there about once a week. I mostly am interested in hunting rabbits with my dogs. but I dont know of any places to hunt them

Try the top of the cajon pass on the west side of I 15 for rabbit hunting, cottontails and jack rabbits. I am a land surveyor and have worked all over southern california. The place is overrun with rabbits, coyotes, and quail. There is even enough open space to course your dogs if you choose.
