I want to build a trail cam but I can't seem to find any cameras in Canada.Does anybody have any ideas on where I can find one in Canada that will work?I really want to get into building these for my own use. I have checked Wal-mart,radio shak and sears for the cameras on Jesses list and came up with nothing. Is that list old and if so are there some new cameras out that people have tried?

Sask Hunter first of all what kind of camera are you looking for ? im shure there is someone that can help u in here, have u tryed ebay ? or ****** ?![]()
Hi SaskHunter,
I done a bit of searching for Canadian camera sources as well. Regarding the Canon Owls they are more commonly listed as the Primara AF7 outside of the USA. If your looking for the Owl try Sears or Blacks for the Date model. The Walmarts around here carry the BF and PF non date models.
For Olympus D-370 or D-380's good luck! Both Blacks and Japan camera have started carrying them at $299, a little steep even in Canuck bucks. Hopefully Future Shop or Staples will come on board with a lower price.
Unless you can find one at an independant camera shop, mail order may be the best option. Obviously ****** for the PF date. Personally I am reluctant to order the Olympus from the States due shipping & handling, duties, returns, etc.

Blacks carries the owl and it can also be found at zellers here in Alberta. London Drugs and Real Canadian Superstore also carry the Owl or Canon Af series of cameras.
The MS20 sensor can be found at Walmart.
I have found a supply of D370 cameras at 219.00 and just bought my first.

I think your best bet is to contact ******. He's got them. If he's out, he gets them and his prices are better than any others I've found. Additionally, he basically sells everything you need to complete the project. If I'd known that when I started, I would have saved myself a bunch of time and money just trying to locate all this stuff. The only down side may be that he posted a message a week or two ago stating that he was "Gone Huntin' " and will not be available for orders for a few weeks. I'm sure you can find the post by reviewing this site. I believe his site link is www.******.com. If not, I'm sure it's here too. I've ordered from him twice now and he's extremely professional.
Good Luck!

I buy all mine from ******, he's the cheapest you'll find anywhere, blacks and sears in canada want anywhere from $99-$109 for a PF or BF canon. ****** sells them for $40 U.S. which works out to around $60 canadian, $5 shipping and it gets to you for well under the best price you'll find in Canada!!Sears also sellls the AF-9 with date stamp. it wires the same as the PF
BUT ****** is closed for the year so you are kinda hooped for that. Did you try the local pawn shops? EBAY has a few as well but this site and all the members have drove the price up quite a bit but you can still get a good deal sometimes.
Canuck, if you are paying $219 for a 370 you should buy off of ebay as well, easilly get them for $150-$165 delivered
Thanks for all the helpfull advice guys,I'll be sure to follow those leads.I have another question, what camera should I go after,is one better than the other or does it matter? Is there some that are easyer to work with? I am going to start my hunt tomorrow for a camera so if I have any more questions or run into a problem I might be back to see if you guys can help me out again. Thanks again for all the help guys.![]()

Canon owl AF(7,8,9), canon AF-9s is the same wiring as a PF or CANON snappy QT,canon snappy LX or LXII, owl PF,canon BF, olympus infinity jr. they are all fairly easy to wire, the PFand BF being the hardest(smaller solder spots).
find anyone one of these and you'll be able to get it wired!!
one other thing ,the flash on the PF /BF reacts fairly slow so a refresh pulse is RECOMMENDED (not NECESSARY), so the best choice for your first camera would be the OWL AF (round dial) or the canon snappy QT, lx or LXII . these cameras only need the 2 wire solder job and the flash reacts quick!!
probably confused you more than I helped that time!![]()
Saw an Owl BF non date at a pawn shop in Edmonton the other day. Could have got it for $30.00, but had my mind set on a date model. Or maybe I had my mind set on dating a model. I may go back and get it.
