Default Rapala X-Rap Shad Lure Adds Shad Shallows

X-Rap Shad Lure Adds Shad Shallows

    3/3/09

MINNETONKA, Minnesota - Anglers were blown away with the introduction and one-of-a-kind action of the X-Rap® Shad. Now, Rapala® brings the irresistible action of the X-Rap Shad to the top three feet of the water column with the introduction of the X-Rap Shad Shallow and the X-Rap Shad Shallow SureSet.

For fish, shallow water offers a smorgasbord of feeding opportunities. For anglers, when it comes to choosing a lure for shallow water conditions, if you don't get it right, the fish might not bite.

"As a pro angler, I have the opportunity to fish all over the country," says Tom Mann Jr., Rapala pro staff member. "The X-Rap Shad Shallow and X-Rap Shad Shallow SureSet are the perfect lures for all species of bass; from spotted bass to large mouth bass and small mouth bass."

The X-Rap Shad Shallow and X-Rap Shad Shallow SureSet feature a shallow lip design that keeps them running between two and four feet at modest-to-quick retrieve or trolling retrieves. The wide concave bill creates a unique action and vibration. With a slow steady retrieve, they wiggle along with a slow swimming action but pick up the pace and these shallow water runners immediately jump into high gear and exhibit all of the wild and crazy outbursts that are synonymous with an X-Rap.

"It's really a versatile lure; you can fish this bait around boat docks, rocks, logs and stumps, any type of structure that's three to five feet deep with visible cover," says Mann Jr. "With Rapala's exclusive internal long cast mechanism, you can cast a mile -getting you into the shallows where the big boys hide."

Fish the X-Rap Shad Shallow and X-Rap Shad Shallow SureSet three ways:

    * Straight-fish the lure with a fast, medium action right back to the boat. This is ideal when fish are chasing and highly active.

    * On days when fish aren't biting and you need to entice them into biting, slow the retrieve down and the lure will produce a lethargic wobble, enticing fish to feed even on the weariest of days.

    * Or, cast it out and start working the lure at its maximum depth, three to four feet. Then, start jerking it with a slack line; this will attract and inveigle fish when they're not in the feeding mood.

The X-Rap Shad Shallow 06 and 08 are available with VMC® Black or SureSet Hooks and come in 15 classic X-Rap color patterns, plus eight out-of-this-world SureSet color patterns. Both lures feature distinctive color tails just like the original X-Rap.

This Shad style lure, with its powerful X-Rap attitude, will keep anglers on the water longer, hooking bass, walleye and northern one after the other.

Suggested retail price X-Rap Shad Shallow: $7.99

Suggested retail price X-Rap Shad Shallow SureSet: $8.99

I'm mostly a fly fisherman. With that said, I do whatever it takes to catch fish. I LOVE throwing Rapalas for big browns, 'bows and bass. Spin fishing will never leave me.
