Not huge but off to a start. Here is the first one for the year. I was thrilled to find it. Got the ticker going.
This one is puzzling. It was only a few feet away from the first one but not a match. It is much smaller but notice the base. It is actually broken off. Both antlers are fresh from this year.
I saw 3 bucks still holding antlers, At least one buck that had shed. I also saw 2 herds of elk. One herd had several bulls in it. It will be a while before they drop.
Went out watching today. I say watching because too many are still holding and I will not push them. We still have a while here before they will all be off. Had a few come in close while I was out though.
A few more.
A nice one.
Congrats on kicking off your season with some fresh bone! Great pics of the bucks still packing, that last one is stunning.
Those are great pics!
NO SHED LEFT BEHIND!
Congrats on the finds,Nice.Awesome pic of the buck.
It's all about that "Yeeeee Haaaa" air punch feeling.
Congrads.................
I love my country-but fear my government!!
Found a few more.
I watched this buck walk down a trail with one antler. He fed behind some trees and I walked over a ridge and glassed another hillside. When I came back over to glass him again he was bald headed. I made my way over and found this shed.
Next I found this real nice shed. The pictures dont show how truly big it is. I glassed this one up from an opposite ridge.
Next one was this guy here. Notice the fresh blood at the base. I picked a good day to be out.
u da man awsome with the fresh blood keep the pix comin
he who wanders is not always lost
I found this little fresh shed right off a deer trail that produces for me almost every year.
It is funny but I get just as excited with a small shed as I do the big ones.
This little guy was very cool. I had to look at it a few times before I realized it was a shed.
And last but not least I found this old one on my way out. I have a shed from this same deer a few years ago. I recognize him from the small little point at the bottom.
hey be it small or large they are all treasures
he who wanders is not always lost
Thanks Kram. I am planning on heading out again soon. I hope to have more pics then.
Here is a last parting shot for now. This one is real old. It was tough to tell it ever even was shed. Interesting how they turn to dust after so long.
Great pickups and pictures mulies.I'd love to have time lapse of a shed in different spots, but lasting ten+ years.I'd like to know exactly how old some actualy are.It could be 5 years, it could be 50+?
It's all about that "Yeeeee Haaaa" air punch feeling.
Nice sheds!
Here are a few more from yesterday.
I found this one off from a deer that I picked up both sides of 2 years ago. He is almost identical 2 years later. I found it within 50 yards of where he dropped before.![]()
Here is one from another spot that provides for me almost every year. It was pretty beaten down in the snow when I found it on a highly used deer trail.
Found 2 more today. Here is the first. Just a little guy I missed in seasons past.
I was getting very discouraged. I hadn't found anything else and hiked way too far. Then I came across this fresh 3 point. It was not big but it was exciting. I felt much better after finding it.
Went out yesterday and to a new spot and picked this fresh one up.
couple nice dark brown sheds, thats what we like to see
Do it well.
Nice work Mulies! Gotta love them brownies.
Went out all day yesterday. Covered a lot of land and only came up with one. But this one is a real bomber. I am still excited about it today.
Went out again yesterday. My brother in law got the first one. This is from a buck that I have several years of his sheds. I missed this one last year.
Here is my first one for the day. I am pretty sure I picked up a side from this buck last year.
