Sorry Bob, we don't have ice fishing here. You been out lately?

Been out twice so far and been skunked both times. Time to find a new lake I think.

Guys are still falling through the ice on some of the larger lakes here. Lost two snowmobilers and an ice-boat sledder this weekend. This week's brutal cold will make lots of ice tho'.

Love to get my portable shelter out a couple times a year. Can't beat the eating on fish that are fresh frozen. The occasional bass on a 8" rod and 2 lb. test is a riot also. I love the jigging Rapalas and Swedish Pimples for attactors. Usually a small horizontal jig with a wax worm (bee moth) works great also. Minnows for crappie fishing when I have to.

    What you guys after?

Been doing pretty good on Waleyes and a few Perch Up here in the UP the last couple weeks but they are calling for some -20 degree weather the next few days so I think I will stick around the house.

I’ve been out regularly without a whole lot of luck.

My buddy in central NY has been slamming the perch on a couple of lakes.

I think I finally got the perch dialed in on the local lake here. Hopefully Friday morning ill come home with some.

Watched two idiots with quads try there luck on the lake.

The first guy comes up to me in the morning and asks me what I’m going for. I tell him perch or gills. His response is those are all the way at the other end of the lake (1.5 miles) one way and says that’s why we got the quads.

I say have fun ill see you there. He laughs at me because I’m going to walk. I get about a third of a mile down the lake and he and his buddy come by and right about when they get even with me they both get buried in about six inches of slush on top of the ice. They manage to make it out and get about another fifth of a mile before they really get stuck.

I walk past them and the rest of the 1.5miles to my fishing spot fish from about eight to noon catch a few perch and call it quits.

Just as I am packing up I see three quads and four people walking coming down the lake.

4+ hours after they got stuck they made it the 1.5 miles to where I was fishing.

Some guys just don’t understand that it doesn’t mater if you get -20 temps when you have six inches of snow on top the slush just won’t freeze.

A Buddy and I went to a local farm pond and caught 30 hand size gills in 45 minutes. Could have caught a lot more but its a small lake and the seasons just starting for me so I don't want to fish it our to fast. I need to start taking a camera with me to get some pics.
