I was up in Bishop a couple of weeks ago fishing. Saturday afternoon, 4 deer came through camp, and one had a blaze orange band around it's neck. It was about 1 - 1 1/2 inches wide and I didn't see any numbers or anything. Anyone have any ideas what this was all about? I'm not a deer hunter, and have never seen or heard of anything like this.

Sounds like a radio collar. Was it on a doe?

I was on a doe. Does the DFG regularly tag and track deer?

I think they are putting collars on deer more and more often now to see if they can figure out patterns. Especially with the migrating herds.

I think they use flourescent collars to make it easier to find mountain lion poop....Just look for the pile with orange shreds in it
