Avid backpacking hunter here that drew the ever dreadful D3-D5 tag. I went up and did some preliminary scouting at the southern end of the Granite Chief Wilderness (powderhorn trail) didn't see much sign, and spotted one doe. I like the territory up there but am really wondering if there are much of any deer there. Any suggestions about the Granite Chief? Or other back packing places I should focus my attention too? Truly frustrated.
