I know what gun, bullet and scope I'll be using. Now the hard choices. What should I hunt, where should I expect to hunt it, who is a good outfitter, and how much should I expect to pay?
I've never hunted either species. Both fascinate me. I've hunted big game for over 35 years, trophy elk hunted two years ago, and hunted kudu and oryx in RSA this year.
Well, remember that getting there and back, tags, motels, restaraunts, taxidermy, and other stuff will add $2500 or more to the hunt. So when you hear $7000 for a dall hunt of $15000 for a rocky, keep that in mind. You would likely be hunting in early fall, maybe a bit earlier for the dalls than the rocky that may be hunted in late fall in some areas.
My initial research is showing NWT and the Yukon as the
place to hunt dalls.Get out your checkbook or home owner
equity line of credit.
But for big dalls this is the place.
The Brooks range is a good choice, although the sheep are
not as numerous and as big.If you see a good legal ram you
should kill it as you may not see another. So far it looks
like Alaska $7500-8000 ,NWT about $11,500.00.
But...for a once in a lifetime hunt,ten years from now $3500.00
will not matter.

the #1 and 2 B&C Dall sheep came from the Wrangels in Alaska. A draw area in Alaska, Chugack State Park (are 14C) has some big rams but is a very tough physical hunt.
Due to terrain horses are used more in the Yukon. A couple outfitters in NWT use horses but most are backpac hunts.
Go to the Grand Slam-Ovis website for info and a list of outfitters.
There are still a few good areas in AK to hunt dalls. If you get drawn for a hunt in the chugach mtns, you have a chance at a real nice ram. The wrangells arent bad either.
I never hunted the brooks but I'm sure you can find decent ones in there. Same as the alaska range. The outfit dalliwacker and I went through for our hunt charges somewhere around 7K for a horseback hunt in the wrangells. Its pricy no matter how you want to look at it.
