Has anyone out there done any playing with a .404 Jeffery? I am thinking I need one . Any thoughts on what action to start with? Gunsmiths? I am thinking it will do what a .416 Rigby will do in a smaller, easier to pack rifle. All comments welcome, thanks.

I considered the Jeffrey at one time. And the Rigby and the Taylor.
The 416 Taylor is an attractive round.
What would you use the 404 on that the 45/70 can cover.

Elk that have been crippled and are leaving the country at mach 3. Saves me a lot of hoofing around the country. The .416 does a hell of a job at it but the Ruger is just too damn heavy to pack around all day. But as a cripple killer it is unsurpassed in my eyes, I am hoping that the .404 will be more of the same.

I would think the 338 WM would fill the bill.

.338 does okay but the .416 hits them like the hammer of Thor. .358 Norma does O.K. also. I guess I just want a .404 is bottom line. Gotta get it through to the spousal unit why I need one then have to fund and find one.
