Well guys after reading everthing I could find on the message board about making the D-370 set up I decided it was time to solder the wires to one tonight. I have been putting if off for a few days because I was so scared that I'd screw it up. I have no soldering experience and electrical stuff is just Greek to me. So after much hesitation and alot of sweat, I heated up the soldering pencil. Guys I'm not lying, I sweated thru my shirt and under-shirt, I was so nervous. When I finally got the tip of the soldering pencil down there, I finally realized how tiny those soldering spots were! Long story short it took me awhile but I finally got it done. It really wasn't that hard but it was nerve racking knowing I could screw up a $100 digital camera.

Then for the moment of truth, I took the 3 wires and connected they by hand to Brian's board to test it. I had the camera and the board powered up and ready. When I touched the 3rd wire together the camera flashed and it scared me so bad I almost jerked the newly soldered wires out of the camera!!!! Anyway, it does work so far and I'm very pleased. I'm not any where close to being done because my Pelican box hasn't even arrived yet but I just wanted to let you know of my progress and thank ya'll for all the help you given me so far. I'm sure I"ll have alot more questions to ask before I'm thru. Thanks again.

Congrats....actually the d370 is far easier than any 35mm I've done.

You sound a lot like I looked when I first opened up a $400 dollar Canon Elph S100 a long time ago. I was pretty nervous too. I got lucky and it all worked the first time too. Now I am braver than I should be and will probably get burned one day. The video camera was the next nerve racking experience.

    Got to love it.

Thanks guys. David, from what I've heard the 370 is alot easier to modify than the Owls and 35mm cameras. Man I'm glad it is easier because I might have worried myself to death if it had been any harder. However, I want to add that the actual soldering and modifying wasn't near as hard as I had worried they'd be.

Now if I can just figure out how I''m going to mount all this in the box, especially the sensor? Thanks again guys.

    Congrats, TxCowboy!!

Now that you have one under your belt, the next six or seven will be a piece of cake!!! (Man this stuff is addicting...)

The box work of mounting and choosing different components is half the fun to me - everybody likes to try and build a better (or cheaper) mousetrap.

Let us see what it looks like when you get it finished put it out in the woods!
