    Conservation Group Schedules Informational Meeting

    1/2/08

Fundraiser Banquet planned for April 2008

The South Central Alaska Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will hold their annual kick-off meeting at the Boniface Dental Center, 2601 Boniface Parkway (SE corner of Lucky and Boniface just north of Northern Lights Blvd), Anchorage, Alaska on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. Informal food and beverages will be provided.

According to chapter president Mike Griffin, along with the election of officers for the coming year and organizing committees, the chapter is seeking help for its annual fundraiser banquet scheduled to be held at the Egan Civic and Convention Center on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

Last year the chapter raised more than $95,000 for conservation efforts. Chapter projects included habitat rehabilitation in the Moose Range; argued for hunter’s rights; supported youth shotgun safety and proficiency training at Rabbit Creek and Birchwood shooting parks; co-published a booklet with Fish and Game on grouse in Alaska; sponsored a scholarship for students in wildlife management, and helped Operation Safeguard acquire a trailer for public education.

For more information and/or questions call Griffin at (907) 349-1176 or Nick Steen at (907) 745-2739.

Established in 1961, the Ruffed Grouse Society is the one international wildlife conservation organization dedicated to promoting conditions suitable for ruffed grouse, American woodcock and related wildlife to sustain our sport hunting tradition and outdoor heritage.

Information on the RGS, its mission, management projects and membership can be found on the web at: www.ruffedgrousesociety.org or by calling (412) 262-4044.
