Safe Hunting Season Kick-off Celebration

WHAT: Governor Jim Douglas, Secretary George Crombie and Commissioner Wayne Laroche will host A Safe Hunting Season Kick Off Celebration to highlight Vermont's rich hunting cultural heritage and responsible wildlife conservation efforts and how hunting brings an economic boost to the state's economy. They will also unveil a new hunting story contest to recognize kids for getting into the woods, and improving their health and fitness.

This event will commemorate significant efforts that have been put forth by statewide partners and Agency of Natural Resources staff to support the vital tradition of hunting in Vermont. It is an opportunity to celebrate the cultural and financial importance of Vermont's hunting heritage.

WHEN: 11:00 a.m. to Noon, Monday, October 29, 2007

WHERE: Wallace Farm, 1903 Blush Hill Road in Waterbury, Vermont.

I-89 Exit 10, north on RT 100 and immediate left on Blush Hill Road (next to Best Western). 1.9 miles on Blush Hill Road to farm on left.

WHO: Hosted by Governor Jim Douglas, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Secretary George Crombie and Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department Commissioner Wayne Laroche, in partnership with the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Hunters, Anglers and Trappers of Vermont and the Vermont Traditions Coalition.
